Signs of an Online Gambling Problem

You can gamble as much money as you want online, but you should only gamble what you can afford to lose.  When you are gambling at an approved online casino you should realize that you will probably lose about 25 percent of the time.  The rest of the time you will win or break even.

Gambling online is a fun hobby and something to which you can look forward to when you get home from work.  However, if you gamble too much money online, you may find yourself with a bit of a problem.  If you find yourself with the following behavior patterns, seek help:

You gamble away the mortgage money or other important expenses

The mortgage money and expenses such as food and utilities should come out first.  Your gambling money should be left over and classified as entertainment.  If you start using the mortgage money to gamble with online, you might lose the mortgage money and fall behind in your mortgage.  If this is the case, you need to seek help from a gambling aid society.

You take time off work to gamble

This is another sign of a problem.  Again, gambling should be a fun hobby or pastime, not something with which you become obsessed.  If you find that you are obsessed with gambling, you may have a gambling problem.  Taking time off work to gamble online or anywhere else reeks of compulsive behavior and you may have a bit of a problem.  Seek professional help.

You never leave the house anymore

While gambling online in front of your computer from the comfort of your home can be fun and alluring, it is not a replacement for outdoor activities nor should it become your social world.  Rather than revolve your life around the computer and your gambling buddies that you meet online, why not let them add to your life?  In other words, your online gambling should be an extent of your life instead of being your total life.

You borrow money to gamble

This can be a big problem and can continue to get you deeper and deeper into debt.  If you find yourself borrowing money from someone so that you can gamble either online or offline, stop.  Take a look at what you are doing and get some professional help.

Gambling online is fun.  You have to find an approved online casino that pays out, is regulated and has a gaming license, but you can have a lot of fun with this pastime.  However, when it ceases to become a pastime and becomes an obsession, you may have a problem.  This is true no matter what the pastime.  Once you become totally defined by something that should be for fun, you are exhibiting compulsive behavior which is not emotionally healthy.

Find an approved online casino that is regulated and have fun in the gambling rooms.  Still maintain your normal life, your regular circle of friends and your job.  Use your online gambling as a release from stress and a way to make a few bucks online.
